In this blog, we will discuss some of the most exciting underwater sports and unique sports that come with incredible health benefits. Read more about these sports that start with U below!

Underwater Diving

Divers go down the water with the purpose of exploring the marine life or as a healthy, recreational activity.

Breathing exercises are common while underwater diving and of course, breath holds, as this sport does not use an oxygen equipment such as that used in scuba diving. Underwater diving provides benefits including toning of the muscles, expanding lung muscles and mental well-being by achieving a certain inner peace while free diving.

Safety is key – you should be physically fit in order to carry out this activity. As a decent swimmer, I have practiced underwater diving in swimming pools and it is quite an exhilarating experience which is not easy to master. I would love to try out underwater diving in an open water body someday!

Ultimate Frisbee

A popular sport in America, also known as just Ultimate, it uses a frisbee – a disc that is tossed by hand. First played in 1968, this is a team sport with typically 7 players in each team but if played indoors or at a beach – it consists of 5 players in each team.

The ultimate aim is catching the frisbee in the opponent’s zone which scores a point for the team. The frisbee can be passed to team players. It has been so long since I played with a frisbee, it is a popular kid’s game. Learning about this sport makes me surely want to try it out again. If you are looking for a team sport or just to stay fit, then try this fun sport!

Underwater Hockey

I bet you haven’t heard of this one! This exciting take on the popular global sport, hockey is something that you must try at least once in your lifetime! Underwater hockey, also referred to as Octopush consists of 6 players played with short sticks and heavy puck underwater. Apart from the advantages of playing hockey and the skills that are acquired, you also gain some healthy benefits of swimming. This sport surely requires pro swimming skills, being physically fit and excellent teamwork!

This type of cycling is one of the least popular sports out there. However, it is a unique sport where you ride on a cycle with a single wheel.

While this may seem like a casual sport, it is quite challenging to master and a tough sport that is also played competitively with different variations such as freestyle, mountain unicycling etc. You need a good amount of balance, coordination and finesse to carry out this activity.

Urban Golf

This is a variation of the popular sport, golf. Urban golf is an ideal solo sports but it can also be played in teams with the objective to hit the ball into a hole. But what’s different about this sport is that it is not played on a golf course but different urban locations with the use of different clubs. The type of ball used can also differ with some players who use leather balls.
