With winter upon us, ‘tis the season to up your hair game. Unfortunately, with winter comes the cold dry air and harsh weather which can take a toll on your hair. That’s why it’s nice to have some trendy ideas set aside for winter hairstyles for long hair for any occasion.
Also, with Christmas and holiday parties around the corner, having a nice hairstyle is a must. But then again, you also don’t want to be spending hours on your hair alone. That’s why to save you some time, I’ve compiled a list of easy winter hairstyles for long hair that you can use as a guide for your next winter event.
1. Low Pony Tail
A low pony tail is one of the best winter hairstyles for those with long hair. It can look both polished and undone depending on how you do it, and gives a romantic look.
You can even add some clips to give it some flare or curl your hair with a wide barrel curling wand to give your pony more volume.
You can also make your pony more interesting by adding a bow or ribbon.
Some of my favorite bow and ribbons include:
2. Bubble Pony
Staying on the trend of ponies, another unique and fun style to try is the bubble pony. Mainly seen on the Disney Princess Jasmine, spice up your hair this winter by trying it out. Just put your hair into a high pony and space out elastics every few inches. Pull on both sides of each section to get more rounded bubbles.
You can even try it out as pigtails.
3. Loose Bun
Loose buns are perfect for those days where you literally have 5 minutes to spend on your hair.
To spice things up, add some hair accessories to make your loose bun look more elegant.
Here are my favorite hair accessories that can elevate your loose bun look:
4. Messy Bun
Turn that loose bun into a messy bun by having it on top of your head. Pull out some strands from the bun and curl them to add more definition and complete your look.
Add a ribbon for a more casual look.
5. Pearl Headband
One of the simplest winter hairstyles for long hair that you can do is simply add a pearl headband.
If you want to spend a bit more time on your hair, you can curl it to give it a volumized and more polished look.
My favourite pearl headbands include:
6. Half Up Half Down
A classic hairstyle and the perfect way to keep your hair out of your face. Finish it off by adding cute clips or bows to make for a prettier look.
Make the half up half down hairstyle a bit more interesting by making braids or twists.
7. Ballerina Bun
A classic bun never fails. It’s the perfect hairstyle for when you don’t have time to curl or straighten your hair. To get a sleek look, use a lot of hairspray to tame any flyaways and use a smoothing brush to gather your hair.
8. Fishtail Braid
Fishtails are an interesting way to spice up a regular braid. They give you a cute and elegant appearance perfect for every day or for an evening look. Spray your braid with some texturizing spray or hairspray to get better hold for those windy days.
9. Cute Clips
Cute, big clips have made a comeback recently and they’re the perfect way to glam up any hairstyle. One of the easiest winter hairstyles for long hair is to add a pair of cute clips to your hair. If you have extra time, curl or straighten your hair for a more polished look.
My top cute clips include:
10. High Pony
The classic high pony is a look you can wear year round. It’s perfect for parties when you want a sophisticated look, or even for everyday when you just want your hair out of your face. Tame your flyaways with a gel or hairspray.
For a trendier look, flip the ends of your ponytail upwards with a straightener to give your hair some flair.
11. Dutch Braids
You’ve probably seen Dutch braids all over Instagram and Pinterest over the last few years. They are a fun twist on the classic French braids and look really pretty. They’re perfect for days where your hair is feeling blah and you just want to tie it up.
12. Braided Updo
Last but not least on this list of easy winter hairstyles for long hair is the braided updo. A very classic and elegant hairstyle that never goes out of style and is great for any occasion.
