A recognized talent of an American football quarterback is to throw the ball at a great distance with accuracy. While athletes usually cover a short distance when throwing the football, some players have set records for the longest football throws which we will discuss below. It is not easy and it is definitely praiseworthy!

For the NFL quarterbacks, an annual challenge was held every which involved a long-distance throwing event along with testing the speed, accuracy, mobility, and a read and recognition test of the athletes. Each quarterback was allowed two throws each, from which the best result was calculated. The long throw had to reach a narrow alley to count as a win.



In 2022, Josh Allen – a popular quarterback held the record for the longest football throw to date which was measured at 98 yards.


In 1993, Randall Cunnigham threw a famous football throw of a distance of 76 yards into the air.


Brett Favre threw the ball at a 75-yard distance at the 1997 Quarterback Challenge.


In the same year and the same challenge of Quarterback 1997, Drew Bledsoe came just second with a distance of 74 yards.


Among the notable quarterbacks in the challenge held in 1998, Kordell Stewart managed to score a distance of 73 yards.
