Ready for the 60th Annual Grammy awards?

Buckle up for the upcoming 60th Annual Grammy Awards ceremony that will be taking place on 28, January 2018. Here’s all that you need to know about the anticipated event; for the first time ever since 2003 the Grammy ceremony will not be held in Los Angeles where it usually takes place at the Staples Center. This year around it will be taking place at the Madison Square Garden in New York City and the show will be broadcast live by the CBS network.

The next big question that we are sure everyone is eager about is who will be hosting the 60th Grammy award? Well, it is pleasing to know that comedian James Corden, whom we all may know from his famous carpool karaoke videos will be returning as the host yet again for the second time in a row. It seems that Cordens last year’s performance appealed to even more people acquiring an audience of more than 26 million viewers, which was basically an increase of 4% from the 58th Annual Grammy’s telecast so it comes to no surprise for him to show up again this time amusing his audience. James Corden will also become the 10th figure to host multiple Grammy awards; he is now included in the list with Andy Williams, Ellen DeGeneres, Kenny Rogers etc.

So what else is to be expected from the milestone 60th Grammy awards? Well this time around the Grammy organization and committee announced some minor changes to take place regarding the award and voting process. Firstly as of 2018, the previous method of paper ballot for voting has been discontinued. Voting member will now cast their votes online in order to allow for more flexibility, prevent fraudulent voting and abolish the prospect of invalid ballots.

Secondly, songwriters will now be given recognition in Album of the year, as Hannah Karp from Billboard puts it, “All music creators, including songwriters, producers, engineers, mixers, mastering engineers and featured artists, who are credited with at least 33 percent or more playing time on the winning album will be eligible to receive a Grammy in the Album of the year category. This is the first time songwriters are recognized in this category.”
