Best Drugstore Foundations for Dry Skin 2019

We all know the struggle to find the perfect foundation. It can be quite a tricky, long and expensive process for some, and even then there’s no guarantee that you will find your Holy Grail foundation. For someone with dry skin, that process is even more challenging, as many foundations tend to extenuate dryness and flakiness of skin.

Over the years, I have managed to try many drugstore foundations, and hope to help those of you on the quest to finally finding the perfect foundation for your dry skin.

Here are my top recommendations:

#1 Maybelline Fit me Dewy + Smooth Foundation

Retails for: CDN $10.99 | USD $5.50

This is a dewy foundation with light to medium coverage. It contains SPF 18 and is made to hydrate and smooth the skin, giving a glowy look. It also comes in 24 different shades.

This was the very first foundation I ever tried from the drugstore, and I did enjoy using it. It gave me enough coverage to cover the redness on my skin and even my skin tone out. I also found that it sat well on my dry skin and didn’t extenuate my dry patches. I loved how skin-like this foundation looked, and I would always get compliments about my skin whenever I wore this. The only negative thing I would say is that it didn’t have a pump, so I would have to pour the foundation out on my hand every time I used it, and there were times where it got messy or too much foundation poured out. If that is something that doesn’t bother you, then I definitely recommend checking this foundation out.

#2 L’Oreal Paris Infallible Pro-Glow Foundation

Retails for: CDN $15.99 | USD $7.59

This is another dewy foundation that claims to provide up to 24 hours of wear. It gives a medium coverage, hiding imperfections and providing a radiant complexion.

This is a very light weight, creamy foundation. When you squeeze it out of the tube, it appears to be fairly runny in consistency and blends well on the skin. I didn’t find this foundation to be dry what so ever and loved how it made my skin look. I loved wearing it during the winter months. It provided a nice, healthy glow to my face while giving up to a medium coverage. I generally also like traveling with this foundation, as it’s easy to toss in my makeup bag without the worry of the bottle breaking, since it comes in a tube instead of a glass bottle.

#3 Catrice HD Liquid Coverage Foundation

Retails for: CDN $13.99 | USD $10.99

This is an HD foundation that claims to provide 24 hour wear time. They have recently expanded their shade range to 18 shades.

I was quite impressed by this foundation. It had a unique dropper instead of the traditional pump, to dispense the foundation, which I actually liked because it allowed me to control how much product came out. Application wise, this foundation blended very easily and I found it to have a very beautiful, satin/matte like finish. I was very smoothing on my skin and did not highlight my dry patches what so ever. It gave a high medium coverage, but still looked skin like, which I was quite surprised by. I also found that this foundation was in fact very long lasting, and I noticed that it was also transfer resistant. Overall, while this foundation is not specifically marketed for dry skin, I still think it’s a great product and worth trying.

#4 L’Oreal Paris True Match Lumi Healthy Luminous Makeup

Retails for: CDN $19.99 | USD $11.99

This foundation comes in 15 shades, including warm, neutral and cool, making it easier to find your perfect match. It also contains SPF 20 and claims to provide a luminous finish to the skin.

This is a great foundation for dry skin, as it contains vitamins C and E which assist in hydrating the skin. It gave my skin a very healthy, radiant glow and provided a light to medium coverage. It is pretty liquidly in consistency so it doesn’t feel heavy on the skin and blends quite well. It isn’t too long lasting, but if you’re looking for a nice everyday foundation that gives you a second skin like appearance, you’ll like this one.
